Archange's Gaming Rig
Hi all! I'll try to post here a few pictures of what I've been doing lately. Go, get your camera an start using it! post the images here, for us to see. Thermaltake Soprano before stripping components apart. That 80 mm intake fan is a bit of a mod, since it was supposed to stay on the plexi side panel. However, my new Thermalright 120 Xtreme tower-cooler would not agree to this setup anymore :D Noctua cooler on the old Akasa Evo 120. Old CPU (C2D 6420). Heh, this feels like opening a grave! Socket area. Mobo is an ASUS P5B Deluxe, as you can see: New CPU (C2D 6750) New VS Old: Again: New HS (Thermalright 120 Xtreme- lapped w/ Noctua 120 Fan) Ready to slap the cooler ontop. And yes, that is Arctic Silver 5 I had to lap the Thermalright HS, because the contact surface was curved rather than flat. That made it actually perform worse than my previous Akasa Evo 120. Thank God, now it works wonders. :D VGA (Gainward 8800 GTS 512) 8800 GTS 512, again :P Hard drives: 2 x WD 160 GB SATA2 RAID 0. I know, I will have tho change those too. RAM: 4 x 1 GB KingMax DDR2 1066 - bit of an overkill maybe... After all 640 KB should be enough for anyone, right? Finished product: COD4, here I come!

Overhaul
Ok, so it was that time, again. Let's see what summer has brought: One C2D 8400 - not featured here; So far, the wrapping looks nice :P Got new HDDs to go with the mobo: Seagate 7200.11 320 GB, times two. The plot is thickening. :) Got new Memory, too. Two dual kits, for a total of 8 GB (4 x 2 GB Mushkin DDR2 800MHz CL4 XP2-6400, Charcoal Gray) Guess I did "Get More" :D A bunch of hardware, waiting to be put to good use. Soprano in the background ;) Out with the old, in with the new. More of that, and a duster ontop :P There's the primadonna I like best: Gainward 8800 GTS 512 Also, you can see my soundcards here, the supreme FX included with the Maximus Formula and my trusty Audigy, which is still my main card. Come to think of it, it's the oldest piece of hardware in my rig :) Better view And from behind :P Top: Well, that's it for now, gotta chill for a while, not that i would mind an HD4870 with 1 GB of VRAM. Now why, oh why didn't I resize those damn picures?!

Really nice new purchases Guess we're the "hardcore" tech geeks of the clan I have a hard time restrainig myself and purchase new stuff almost on monthly basis, thats why most of the time i'm already broke weeks before the next paycheck arrives :)

Thanks for the comments, m8... You are so true! But wait till you get married and have a baby! 8) I fail to realise even now how I manage to mix family life and my passion, and still go along. :D My wife must have tons of patience.

Yeah i believe you m8, the time will come for me too to settle down and start a family, although I still have a couple of years left until then, at least I hope so :) I've been given the impression that you know your priorities and don't neglect your family over gaming and think your wife sees that so she doesn't give you a hard time when you take your hour or so for gaming. But yeah, i don't know much women that can put up with their boyfriends/husbands gaming needs, so she surely is very understanding
